I was in the TRT program, and I loved it! I was of course scared and nervous to get help and to be in the detox. But as soon as I was transitioned into TRT, it became a second home. Lori is an amazing counselor and Alisha is super amazing also! The staff in general are all amazing! They really care and really want you to succeed and even after graduating there, i still go to therapy twice a week and I am now part of the NA committee on Monday nights! This place has forever changed my life and I am forever grateful!

Our friend was picked up overnight at 7/11 by a Denver Police officer after an altercation about payment methods for a taquito and dropped off here unreported. The staff took great care of him and other residents were kind to him as well. We didn’t know where he was or how to contact him and in danger of missing our flights back to Canada. Typically residents may not call out, but the staffs consideration of his situation allowed him to make one phone call to us. We picked him up and made it to the airport just in time to make it home. He was offered breakfast but was unable to stay. Their care and compassion for our friend and our situation will never be forgotten.

Life Saving Treatment Program. The staff are hardworking people that really care about their clients. Highly recommend the TRT program for women and men that are serious about recovery from substance dependency and abuse. Thank you for everything I've gotten from this program, Denver Cares. Plus the life long friendships, I have made.

Denver Cares Staff has treated me with the utmost kindness, respect, and help with addiction. For the drunk dramatic outbursts that the staff endure and have to protect themselves and those seeking help from harm, I am sorry you think a place with such wonderful human beings running and serving the community are torturing drunks. I hope you learn some FACTS about the process and staff I see every day. (Disclaimer: I am not employed or associated in any professional way with Denver Cares or it's affiliates. I do not endorse, or provide service to the facility. I DO benefit from addiction counseling, structural rehabilitation, and obviously NO torture. I on my own behalf have authorized my name to represent the construction of this post only in stating my personal observation, interactions, and knowledge of the day to day challenges and opportunities of Denver Cares.)

The first thing people need to know is that the negative reviews below are extremely biased. The people claiming that people are being tortured at CARES and that they can 'see it happen' from their house are a fine example of yuppy gentrification. CARES existed long before they moved into their lofts, and if they did not want to live near a detox center perhaps they should have researched the area first. CARES is a first responder in HELPING homeless, rather than looking down on the homeless and seeing them as less than people as these reviewers do. Second, a lot of the disgruntled reviewers are from people who were brought in by either the patrol van or the police. If someone is brought to CARES, it's because they were intoxicated, and are a harm to themselves or others and are put into protective care. Detox is never a pleasant stay for anyone, but you can only blame yourself if you were brought to CARES. No one puts a drink into your hand but you. Third, it seems there are disgruntled former clients posting. The strict rules at CARES are for their own success. As they go further into the program, they get access to more freedom. Perhaps you should speak with the countless success stories the long term treatment program has helped rather than complaining about rules that are common at any detox facility. CARES does indeed have a huge homeless population, but there are plenty of regular people as well who have just had too much to drink. There is also a long term treatment program that is literally saving lives. All people are treated with dignity and as human beings and friends. The staff is caring, and certainly wouldn't be willing to work there if they didn't believe in the mission of CARES. Before you judge by some negative feedback, stop on by and check it out for yourself :)
